Sometime in the myriad moods of his own artistic quest, Shyamal Dutta Ray decided to wed the wash effect of the Bengal masters and weave in an arabesque obliqueness of the creations of a lived in reality. Here was an artist whose identity on paper through the humoresque starkness was a mysterious meandering of sorts.
